The Benchracer Goes Digital!
At our January SOCP meeting, it was unanimously agreed that we would publish “The Benchracer” as an online publication. We realize there may be a select few who do not have the ability to download or view the newsletter in this format so we must know this: You can still receive a paper copy if you need it. Either way, you MUST complete the membership renewal enclosed and fill in all pertinent information. Please remember to send a cheque along if you haven’t paid yet.
Here are the advantages to having an online newsletter:
- Quicker turnaround time for printing and receiving newsletter
- Newsletter can be printed in colour
- You don’t need to print it at all but can simply view it any time you want to review it
- Clickable links on newsletter to standard maps, supporting advertiser websites!
- Online events update
- Submissions of pictures, articles, classified ads made easier
A new year full of promise of great new SOCP events and fun old ones dawned on January 11th at the home of Gary and Sonya Pratt. A very interested SOCP crowd turned out for the first meeting of the year. After an update from SOCP’s Club Administrator, Don Cox, showing us in good financial shape to start the year, we delved into the important business of new plans for the club newsletter.
After discussion of the merits of putting the newsletter into an online format, a show of hands decided that we should go ahead with our plan. Your enclosed membership renewal form has a space for you to indicate if you would still like to receive a paper copy of the newsletter.
We discussed support of specific charities on a more dedicated basis. It was decided to work on charity work on an “as pertinent” basis and by whoever is available to support it. If you have a specific cause that you would like to have the club get involved with, please contact one of the club executive
We also discussed declining attendance at club events last year and agreed that it might be remedied in several ways including work days and better website content with an online newsletter
A special thanks to Dan Tanton for all his work on the club slideshow DVD which was available to all the members who renewed. We still have some of these left so if you get your money in quick, you can be assured of your copy that you can pick up at a future meeting or event.
