Club picnic report
Our annual picnic in Gravenhurst was a rousing success once again! A Caravan of six trucks moved out from Manchester, this year without rain and on time, and headed north to our usual destination at Gull Lake Park. Some of us thought we were early leaving and when we arrived, we were amazed to find a couple hundred of the over 500 vehicles had already arrived. As usual, Ron Chaisson had done a great job preparing and setting up the tent and BBQ and setting aside our picnic area. Bruce rolled in early too with a trunk full of prizes and coolers teeming full of food. We were so short of space for all the food, Gary had to resort to a little yard sale-ing to come up with another cooler!
Bruce served up a great lunch of burgers and dogs with a side of his and Jane’s famous chili and I think everyone who dared a first plate, had seconds: Thanks to Bruce and Jane for the great feast! There was time after to check out all the cool rides at the show and hang out in the shady area and sell some compressor tickets to participants. After 2pm, we unloaded Bruce’s car and filled almost 3 picnic tables full of prizes. Everyone went home with a prize eventually (EJ too) and some went home with more than enough (KP). Everyone who attended received SUNOCO Ultra 94 bucks and we were pleased to see so many members hang around until most of the show participants had left and helping with the teardown and cleanup. Thanks to all who brought food, and prizes or who helped out with the event! CYA next year!
