Autofest
Mother Nature threatened to wipe out Auto fest weekend in Oshawa this year but SOCP truckers were determined not to be intimidated. Friday afternoon saw the Hills journey down to the Pratt home and then off with the 3 Pratt men to world famous Teddy's Deli in Oshawa for a feast of fine cuisine. The comedy team of Jervis and Jervis met us there and kept the waitress on her toes for sure. Afterward, we headed over to downtown Oshawa to face the rain and enjoy the cars parked downtown and the live band playing golden oldies!
Saturday was much better. We went into Oshawa to register and see the cars that were at the Holiday Inn doing the same. Gary managed to get an insider tip on the afternoon's Poker Run so we headed back to his place: The Poker Run went right by the end of his driveway. We sat in our lawn chairs with our coolers and watched the cars and trucks drive by! Around supper time, Jason and Adam Hustler showed and proceeded to wash and detail their cool cars. Christine and Jay Jervis showed up again as did Tony and Josie Laundrie. We had a great BBQ and a few cold drinks.
Sunday morning saw us arrive at Autofest at 8 am. We got some primo parking and actually a good amount of shade thanks to some Jervis tents. It rained lightly for about 10 minutes very early but dried up for the rest of the day. It was enough to keep many vehicles away but there was still registered attendance of over 1200 vehicles. SOCPers didn’t win any major prizes but we have some great memories just the same. Mother Nature be damned!
It was a great show in spite of the weather and next year promises to be even better with a new venue at Lakeview Park in Oshawa and becoming a 2 day show! Keep an eye here for further info! Thanks to the Motor City Car Club for another fine and well run event!
